Non-BOR - SD Opportunity Scholarship - Returning & Transfer Student

Students completing the SD Opportunity Scholarship Returning Application will be filtered into a campus committee based on their institution selection in the application.  The same can be said for students who have completed the Transfer application. 

 

Returning student:  A Student who is returning to South Dakota after attending post-secondary 2 years or less out of state. 

Transfer student: A Student who is transferring from one South Dakota school to another while receiving the SD Opportunity Scholarship

 

(some screen shots may include references to BOR institutions for steps that are the same between the two sets of schools)

 

Continuing Eligibility Evaluation 

To begin the evaluation of students - click the [Actions] button on the right had side of the screen for the SDOS - 04 - Transfer - CAMPUS committee, then click [Award Candidates].

 

 

Click [SDOS - 04 - Transfer - CAMPUS] fund name: 

 

This will open the below page with a description of the scholarship.  Click the [Candidates] tab to open a list of candidates.

 

 

The Candidate List will display all students who have completed the SD Opportunity Scholarship Returning Student Application and selected your school.

To record your evaluation of the student, click the student's name.  This will open a screen with the student's Transfer Application and the evaluation criteria.   

  • SDOS - 01 - Eligible

    • Check this at the end of all other evaluation criteria - Does the student qualify for SD Opportunity Scholarship? (Yes/No)

  • SDOS Other - 01 - CAMPUS - Initial Eligibility 

    • Does the student meet the initial eligibility requirements of the SD Opportunity Scholarship? (Yes/No)

  • SDOS Other - 02 - CAMPUS - Credit Thresholds

    • Has the student met the appropriate credit thresholds?  (Yes/No)

  • SDOS Other - 03 - CAMPUS Persistence

    • Has the student been continuously enrolled and met the appropriate persistence requirements?  (Yes/No)

  • SDOS Other - 04 - CAMPUS - GPA Requirement

    • Does the student meet the 3.0 GPA requirement? (Yes/No)

  • SDOS Other - 05 - CAMPUS - Student Type

    • If the student qualifies, what type of SD Opportunity Scholarship Student would the student be considered? 

      • Late Enrollee - student was enrolled one or more terms at participating institution without SD Opportunity Scholarship Funding.  

      • Transfer - student transferred from one South Dakota Opportunity Scholarship school to another in South Dakota.  

      • Returning - student was enrolled for 2 years or less at an out of state institution and has returned to South Dakota and applied for remaining SD Opportunity Scholarship.

      • Not Eligible

  • SDOS Other - 06 - CAMPUS - Term

    • What term funding will the student begin?  

      • This will be based on student's overall amount of SD Opportunity Scholarship eligibility they have remaining and may not match the number of semesters they have previously received SD Opportunity Scholarship funding.

  • SDOS Other - 07 - CAMPUS - Funding

    • What should the funding amount be for the Fall 2024 term?

  • SDOS Other - 09 - CAMPUS - COMMENTS

    • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Please indicate the reason a student is not eligible for the scholarship or any other necessary comments. 

 

If at any point it is determined that the student is not eligible, you can indicate that in the [SDOS - 01 - ELIGIBLE] criteria, make a note in the comments and leave the remaining evaluation criteria blank. 

 

Evaluation Complete

Once your evaluation is complete, and the student is deemed ELIGIBLE, BOR Staff will award the student in Scholarship Manager.  Campus may also award the student at the University.  Eventually, this student will be moved to the overall SD Opportunity Scholarship committee for overall funding.
